Practice Your Lines: Assertive Responses to Sexual Harassment
Time & Location
About the Event
Much has been written and discussed about the rampant sexism in the Valley (and now Hollywood and Capitol Hill and is there anywhere we're not talking about it?). While we're eager to see talk of decency pledges, more robust sexual harassment policies and real ramifications for perpetrators, we see a big gap: what about the stuff that doesn't quite merit a report to HR?
A senior manager calling you sweetheart, a gross series of gifs being shared in a group chat, a male colleague who seems to continually talk over you. This workshop is meant to support you processing, preparing and practicing how to respond to these situations. Part learning, part community listening circle and part practice & performance, we want you to leave after our 2 hr workshop with your lines ready to respond in the work place. Let’s work together to Practice Your Lines.
If it's helpful, here's an essay Tessa wrote about the need to have your lines ready to practice.
This workshop will be limited to women (trans women are women) and non-binary folk. If you're interested in attending a co-ed workshop, email Tessa at firstname.lastname@example.org
